September 5, 2022 at 10am – 12pm (online Zoom event)
A key part of Corra’s approach is working alongside others to build relationships based on shared power and mutual trust. Over the last two years many funders have worked to increase their reach and understanding of Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic communities, and continue to take steps to bring a racial justice lens into grant-making.
This event will aim to:
- Hear stories from funded groups on their experiences of community-led grant-making.
- Share reflections on racial equity in grant making, including the approaches, challenges, and some of the lessons learned along the way.
- Create a space for discussions on shifting power and progressing racial equity.
This event will be chaired by Talat Yaqoob. Talat is a Scottish consultant, campaigner, writer, and commentator. She has worked in the third sector for over 14 years, across a number of issues including women in STEM, violence against women, mental health and equality in education. Her work includes social research, policy analysis and influencing, and public participation. Talat is the Co-Chair of the First Minister’s National Advisory Council for Women and Girls and has led campaigns in women’s representation in the media and politics.
