Drugs Services Funds
The numbers of drug-related deaths in Scotland are too high. These deaths are tragic and avoidable and reducing them is a priority for all of us. To that effect, the Scottish Government has launched the National Drugs Mission to improve lives, backed by significant additional resources. National Drugs Mission funds include the Improvement Fund, Local Support Fund, Local Support Fund Micro Grants, and Children & Families Fund delivered by the Corra Foundation.
There remains a lot of hard work ahead, but with extra investment in essential services, the work we do will be more secure and signals a determination to make change and no longer to fail those who need and deserve our help.
National Drug Mission Funds: Corra Foundation will be supporting the Scottish Government with their funding processes as part of the National Drug Mission. Further information is available here.
The Improvement Fund and Children and Families Funds have re-opened to applications. Closing date 22nd September 2022.
This flow chart for applicants provides useful information about each fund and if your organisation is eligible to apply.

Please read the relevant criteria document and application guidance notes.
About the fund
The Local Support Fund – Micro Grants is focused on small community-based groups which deliver frontline services to support people who use or used drugs, people in recovery and families affected by someone else’s drug use. This vital support is often delivered with very limited funding which means that small groups can be stretched to their limits. In some cases, the pandemic will have put more of a strain on finances, making it even harder to provide support for people and families when they most need it. This fund is designed to help these groups by providing grants which will offer some financial security for planning and delivering support to improve the wellbeing of both people who use drugs and their families.
Please email us on wellbeingteam@corra.scot for the application form. One of our Grant Advisors will arrange a time to have a chat about your proposal and provide guidance.

About the fund
The Local Support Fund is focused on community-based organisations which deliver frontline services to support people who use drugs, people who are in recovery and their families. The Scottish Government is aware that organisations providing this vital support often exist on shoestring budgets and are stretched to their limits. In some cases, the pandemic may have pushed these budgets further. It is hoped that this extra funding can help to provide more security. This fund is intended to help these organisations to stabilise or increase capacity, extend services and provide further reach into the community.
Please email us on wellbeingteam@corra.scot for the application form. One of our Grant Advisors will arrange a time to have a chat about your proposal and provide guidance.
Criteria and Guidelines
About the fund
This fund is now open. Applications must be received by 1pm on 22nd September 2022.
The Improvement fund will support drug service resources.
- A portion of the fund is reserved for supporting organisations delivering residential rehabilitation and associated services.
- Applications not associated with Residential Rehabilitation are also eligible to apply.
- This fund aims to support projects which provide fast and appropriate access to treatment and care, and which are based in collaborative approaches that support people by taking a rights-based and whole family approach.
It is often challenging for people to get the support they need to progress with treatment, so improving access and pathways to support services is another key priority for this fund. The Improvement Fund will also fund projects that improve pathways, provide aftercare, training, and/or support for family members who often play a vital role in recovery.
Criteria and Guidelines
About the fund
This fund is now open. Applications must be received by 1pm on 22nd September 2022.
This fund aims to support direct work with children and families affected by alcohol and drugs.
- We are seeking applications that are based on partnership approaches which demonstrate how they will take a Whole Family Approach which is Relational and Rights Based when delivering front-line services which support children and families.
- The fund is open to public sector organisations, charities, social enterprises, community groups and other voluntary organisations that have independent governance and an asset lock.
- The involvement of children and families with lived experience in the project proposal will be a key assessment criterion, and we are particularly interested in applications which include coproduction approaches to service design, delivery and review.
- All applications under this stream must demonstrate alignment to The Promise. This will require demonstrating an understanding of the need for the proposal to align with implementation of the Independent Care Review, as outlined in Plan 21-24 and Change Programme ONE and how the proposed work will relate to the national and the local context that the organisation is operating within.
Applications must also demonstrate how the work links to the Whole Family Approach Funding that Scottish Government allocated to Alcohol and Drug Partnerships in summer 2021.
Because this funding aims to support the work of The Promise and the Whole Family Approach Fund, we strongly encourage applicants to have conversations with their local Alcohol and Drug Partnership and Promise delivery team as soon as possible.
