Two local charities in Moray have secured £8,800 between them in the latest round of awards from Corra Foundation.
Moray Mental Health supports people with long-term mental illness by providing them with the opportunity to meet socially with others. As well as a weekly drop-in on a Saturday morning, trips are run every month from April to September and the award of £2,500 will help pay for these and is the group’s fifth award from the Foundation.
Moray Art Centre runs a programme of exhibitions, events, classes and art residencies. It has been running a Lego therapy project for autistic children for the last year, and the award of £5,580 means it now has all the money in place to continue this work and run the programme for three different age groups of children. This is the centre’s second award from the Foundation.
Mary Craig OBE, Chief Executive of Corra Foundation, said: “These charities both work hard to improve the lives of people in Moray, and that also has a positive impact on the lives of their families and the communities where they live. We know that having basic costs covered means that the charities we support can get on with putting their efforts into delivering their much needed services.”
