Funding boost for Scottish charities

Thirty two Scottish charities are celebrating after receiving funding totalling £185,000. The money is coming from Corra Foundation and is targeted at improving the lives of people across Scotland.

Mary Craig OBE, Chief Executive of Corra Foundation, said: “Most of the charities we have funded are small, local groups working in their own communities to make life better for local people. Just over £105,000 of this funding will be used to help twenty one charities pay the salaries of staff. Without good staff it is impossible for charities to deliver their services and yet it can often be difficult for them to get funding for this. Covering basic running costs can also be hard and another eight charities are receiving £32,000 between them to help them with these. Three charities have also received £48,000 of funding through our new Time of Your Life programme to deliver innovative preventative work with 50 to 70 year olds.”

The next deadline for applications to the Henry Duncan Awards Programme is 16th September.
