Funding call for International Development Organisations

Scottish International Development Organisations can now apply for funding through the Scottish Government’s International Development Small Grants Programme which has opened today. This will distribute approximately £500,000 per year between 2014-2017 to support projects that help some of the world’s poorest countries and fit within the Scottish Government’s International Development Policy. Details of the programme and how to apply are now available from Corra Foundation which is administering it.

External Affairs Minister Humza Yousaf said: “The difference the hard work of International Development organisations across Scotland makes, and their contribution towards achieving the UN Millennium Development Goals, is hugely significant.

“I would encourage these organisations to apply to the Small Grants programme – to help them continue striving towards the aim of alleviating poverty and creating a fairer and more prosperous world for all.”

Mary Craig OBE, Chief Executive of Corra Foundation, said: “This programme is a great opportunity for smaller International Development Organisations to access funding. This money can support delivery of their work overseas, or capacity building that can help them be better placed to access funding from other sources in the future.”

Organisations with an annual turnover of less than £150,000 are eligible to apply, and there are three types of grants available: project, feasibility and capacity building. The deadline for applications is Friday 29th November, with awards being announced in early March 2014. The application form, guidance notes and criteria for the programme are all available on the Foundation’s website: ltsbf.design33.net

To help people understand if the work of their organisation fits within this programme and to help them develop strong applications two information sessions are being held on:

• 22nd October – in Edinburgh from 10am – 12.30pm.
• 24th October – in Glasgow from 10am – 12.30pm.

To book a place at one of these please call us on 0131 444 4020 or e-mail us on international@ltsbfoundationforscotland.org.uk You do not need to attend one of these information sessions to apply, and if you have any questions about the programme please call us and we will be happy to help.

Eligible projects must be based in one of the Scottish Government’s priority countries, contribute to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (and the post-2015 Framework in due course), and the alleviation of poverty and economic growth in the priority countries. These are: Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zambia, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Indian States of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Orissa.
