Scottish Government International Small Grants 2019 Programme Launch
International Development Organisations based in Scotland can now apply for funding through the Scottish Government’s International Development Small Grants Programme which opened today.
The programme is specifically intended to accommodate requests for funding from Scottish based organisations with an annual expenditure of less than £250,000. Project grants of up to £60,000 are available for up to a three year period, as well as feasibility and capacity building grants of up to £10,000 for up to one year.
Feasibility and capacity building grants are open to Scottish-based organisations working in any country rated as either medium or low in the United Nations development index and project grants are open to Scottish-based organisations working in our priority countries: Malawi, Zambia and Rwanda.
The funding will support projects that help some of the world’s most vulnerable people and communities and contribute to the current International Development Strategy and overarching Scottish Government outcomes.
Europe, Migration and International Development Minister, Ben Macpherson said:
“Projects funded under the Small Grants Programme show our commitment to helping some of the world’s most vulnerable people and enhancing Scotland’s role as a good global citizen.
“Over the last five years, the programme has funded many development projects in our partner countries, enabling Scottish agencies to make an impact and improve people’s lives. This year we would particularly welcome applications from Scottish-based organisations working in any country rated as either medium or low in the United Nations development index or those working in partnership with existing projects funded through the Zambia, Rwanda and Malawi funding rounds.
“The programme also offers the chance for organisations to apply for grants to strengthen their safeguarding and governance processes, and I encourage all Scottish-based organisations to consider applying.”

A maximum of £10,000 for feasibility and capacity building grants are also available, to cover a one-year period.
