In December 2018 Corra Foundation opened the Scottish Government’s Substance Misuse Challenge Fund for applications. The aim of this fund is to break down barriers for people accessing services for support with their alcohol and/or drug use and to make sure they can receive the right support at the right time. The Challenge Fund intends to provide a space to re-think the system (or parts of the system), test change and implement new ways of working.
54 applications were received from a range of organisations including charities, Alcohol and Drug Partnerships and Health Boards. Of the applications received 25 were successful. The list of successful projects and the geographical areas in which these are based has been published on the Scottish Government website.
Applications were reviewed by a panel of individuals with experience in this area, including people with lived experience of recovery, an important perspective in the consideration of these applications.
