Corra Coronavirus Response International Microgrants
The Corra Coronavirus Response Microgrants were part of Corra’s wider response to the global pandemic which began in 2020. This funding was spent in nine countries and reached nearly 50,000 people.
Recognising that the pandemic was having negative impacts on people and communities around the world, and that communities already facing challenges and with limited resources were often hardest hit, Corra was keen to offer some additional and flexible support. With many of our international grantholders at that time already closely engaged with partners overseas, Corra offered 29 organisations immediate unrestricted grants of £500 to assist their work with partners and communities overseas who were affected by the Coronavirus crisis.
The Corra international micro-grants were used to cover unexpected additional costs for organisations and their partners’ work overseas related to the pandemic, for example: supplies of soap, masks and gloves; additional smartphone or top-up credit; salary contributions for staff who would not be paid for postponed activities; additional travel costs due to public transport closure, etc. These grants were funded by Corra and were separate from Scottish Government grant funding.

Decision making process
Corra approached organisations we were already working alongside, or aware of with an offer of funding.Â
Organisations who wanted to accept the funding offer were asked to provide confirmation that the majority of the funding would be spent in the overseas country where their partner was based.Â
Most organisations received funding within a month of confirming they would like to accept the funding offer.Â
