Open and Trusting grant making

We strive to make our grant making processes better each year. Here’s how.

Our commitments to applicants and grant holders

We want our processes to work for all. We want to ensure our approach is relational and our processes are accessible and easy to navigate, particularly for people from communities who have faced barriers to funding. We do this by:

  • Demonstrating our commitment to IVAR’s Open and Trusting grant making principles by showing the actions we take to improve our practices.
  • Asking people about their experience of Corra through an annual applicant and grant holder experience survey.
  • Regularly reporting progress on our own delivery. This includes making our grant-making processes easier and fairer.

You can provide feedback at anytime about how we work by contacting our Head of Learning and Development, emailing learning@corra.scot. Read on for our Open and Trusting commitments, statistics from the most recent year’s surveys, and the 2023-24 Open & Trusting report.

About our Open and Trusting grant making commitments

We will not waste your time

We will provide all the necessary information on our website on funding priorities, application guidance and key dates.

We will make it easier for you to ask questions either about a specific programme or general funding advice.

We will act with urgency

We will publish our timetables and make our decisions as quickly as possible and always publish this timeline ahead of time.

We will only ask relevant questions

We will make the application process fairer and easier to complete. We will never ask for duplicate information. If additional information is required, we will explain why it is necessary.

We will accept our share of risk

We will be realistic about how much assurance applicants can reasonably give us.

We will make sure our risk measures andre proportionate to the size of the grants.

We will be transparent about our decisions

We publish our grant information on 360 Giving.

We will provide an annual update on average grant size and success rates.

Enable grant holders to respond flexibly to changing priorities and needs

We make our funding as flexible as possible.

Wherever we can, we provide unrestricted funding.

Be clear about our relationship from the start

We will always value your time and ensure our ongoing relationship is helpful.

We will be upfront and clear in our communication with grantholders.

We will commit to light-touch reporting

We aim to ensure all reporting requirements are relevant and proportionate to the size of grants.
