Climate commitments
Our commitment on climate change
Over the next decade, Corra will work collaboratively with communities, charities and partners to respond to the climate emergency. We have no doubt that climate change will have considerable ramifications for social, economic and equality issues. Corra has joined over fifty UK funders pledging to take action by signing the Funder Commitment on Climate Change. By signing the pledge, Corra commits to playing its part in addressing the causes and impacts of climate change.
What is climate change?
Climate change describes changes in average weather conditions – such as temperature and rainfall – over a long period of time. Earth’s climate has constantly been changing – long before humans were here. But scientists have observed rapid and unusual changes recently, including significant increases in the global temperature and increasing frequency of extreme weather events. Whilst there are lots of factors that contribute to our climate condition, scientists agree that human activities over the past 50-100 years are causing rapid changes to our climate.
Why is climate change important to us?
Climate change will have considerable ramifications for social, economic and equality issues. We all need a safe and habitable planet – with clean drinking water, clean air, shelter, and food, as a minimum to survive. To ensure that we, and future generations, have a habitable planet, we need to reduce the impact that human activities are having on our planet.Â
Our climate commitments and progress
Corra has signed the Funder Commitment on Climate Change and made commitments to take action to mitigate climate change. Our Green Team reviews progress on achieving our climate commitments every year. We reviewed our progress in March 2026 and the progress outlined below covers our work during 2025-2026.
Make opportunities for the team to learn about climate change
-Carbon literacy training was completed by 65% of staff.
-In 2025, we received a Carbon Literate Organisation Silver Award.
Commit resources to work that addresses causes and impacts of climate change
-As well as significant amounts of staff time, Corra has committed resource in the form of strategic grants with a climate focus, including one to Woodlands Community Project.
Integrate actions to address climate change within Corra's work and processes
-Corra’s website is certified by The Green Web Foundation and uses an ethical hosting company. We code applications to identify those with a climate focus.
Manage Corra's investments for a no fossil fuel future
-Corra’s investments are currently managed through Sarasin’s Climate Active Endowment Fund and Cazenove’s Responsible Multi-Asset Fund. Both funds support the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and encourage the transition to renewable energy through influence and investment.
Decarbonise how we work
-We moved to a smaller, greener office which is well-insulated, and powered by green energy.
-We offer active travel initiatives including a cycle to work scheme.
Report on progress fulfilling these commitments
-We report on our Funder Commitments to Climate Change every year. This is included in the Association of Charitable Foundation’s annual review.
