Corra Foundation is delighted to announce a new partnership with the Henry Smith Charity. This includes an investment of £948,000 from Henry Smith Charity to Corra Foundation, contributing towards two Corra funding streams.

The Henry Smith Charity is amongst the largest independent grant makers in the UK, with the aim of elevating the impact of organisations who are helping to tackle social and economic exclusion and supporting those in adversity to thrive.

The funding commitment of £948,000 will contribute to The Promise Partnership and Corra’s Henry Duncan Grants. The funding towards the Promise Partnership and Henry Duncan Grants includes overhead costs against each programme.

The Promise Partnership supports the ‘care system’ in Scotland to apply and embed the changes needed to #KeepThePromise, helping to drive forward change that matters to children, young people and families.

Corra’s Henry Duncan Grants provide unrestricted funding to charities and registered not for profit organisations with a yearly income of up to £250,000, with each year focused on a specific theme. Previous year’s themes have included ‘Supporting Women and Girls’ and ‘Supporting Mental Health and Wellbeing’, with ring-fenced funding allocated to Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Organisations since 2021.

Anand Shukla, Chief Executive at The Henry Smith Charity said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Corra on The Promise Partnership and Henry Duncan Grants. Together, we want to ensure that children and young people in Scotland can grow up loved, safe, and respected, and to address the impacts of gender based violence on women and girls. We look forward to working together to create lasting social change for communities in Scotland”.

Carolyn Sawers, Chief Executive at Corra, said: “We are really pleased to be announcing this partnership today, and excited to work alongside Henry Smith Charity who are doing incredible work to support the UK’s Third Sector.

We know there is lots more work to do to #KeepThePromise so that people with care experience feel loved, safe and respected, and that this promise must be kept by 2030.

As an organisation, Corra is also committed to provide flexible, unrestricted funding to charities and not for profit organisations, across key themes via our Henry Duncan Grants.

The Henry Smith Charity’s investment towards these programmes will help continue our work to fund and amplify organisations working towards important change, and who are providing vital support to communities across Scotland.”
