£15 million programme supporting communities to tackle impact of child poverty in the UK

Wishaw in North Lanarkshire has been named one of the places that will receive £1.5 million funding over the next five years.
Corra is the lead organisation for Communities for Children in Wishaw and will work closely with local people, and partners, to design and deliver community-led solutions that will help tackle child poverty.
The work in Wishaw adds to Corra’s place-based approaches and draws on our experience, including established relationships in North Lanarkshire through the Getting Alongside Communities programme.

“People and communities understand their own lives, challenges and aspirations better than anyone.
Working alongside our partners in Wishaw will give us an opportunity to listen to those voices, amplify them and support local people to design and deliver solutions that reflect what matters most to them. We believe that this approach will make a real and lasting difference to the lives of children and families who live there.”
By placing power and resources directly in the hands of communities, the programme aims to create lasting change for children and families, addressing local challenges while building the leadership, partnerships and learning needed to influence wider policy and practice.
The other three locations and organisations involved in the programme are: –

- Seacombe, Wallasey (Liverpool City Region) – Right to Succeed
