Working Better Together in Place

By Corra Foundation
The Place-based programme learning exchange was established in January 2019 and built on collaborative work to support the development of the National Place Principle. The Place-based Programme Learning Exchange comprises national organisations that champion ‘place’ in their practices: Corra Foundation, Scottish Community Development Centre, National Lottery Community Fund, SURF and Inspiring Scotland.
As a community of practice, we come together to:
- improve understanding of each other’s programmes;
- learn from each other’s successes and challenges; and
- collectively inform and influence policy and practice
The Better Together Report introduces the members of the group and their place programmes. It aims to illustrate what works and does not work in terms of place-based approaches. This aspect of our work was supported through two dedicated learning processes. The majority of the learning presented in this paper is drawn from these two exercises.
The report uses case studies to bring this learning to life and illustrate the transformational power of place-based working. In this way, we hope to catalyse a greater uptake of such approaches and to improve practice across Scotland. However, we recognise there is much to do and would welcome the input of others and requests for advice and/or support.
