Kilwinning Chair Exercise

It’s time to catch up with the communities we work alongside as part of Corra’s Place Programme, starting with the latest from Blacklands! Were delighted to share the Blacklands Annual Update for 2024 – sharing what’s been happening in this community in Kilwinning this past year.

In 2024, Corra’s work to support community priorities in Blacklands has included:

  • Continuing to support the Chair-based Exercise Group, parent and toddler groups and the Community Kitty – a community-led participatory budgeting process.
  • Afternoon Tea Dances – more than just an afternoon of tea and music; they were proof of the power of connection and teamwork, involving four local sheltered housing complexes and Blacklands Primary School.

“the kids joining in was great fun.”
“that has been great, I would have been just sat in the house on my own”.

  • System changers built upon their commitment to community-driven solutions, delivering a cooking programme with a focus on reducing stigma associated with accessing food and began planning two new projects – ‘Women’s Wellbeing: Addressing gaps in local support networks’ and ‘Women’s DIY: Building practical skills and community connections’.

What next?

From March 2026, our relationship with communities will change. We are supporting community leaders to establish their priorities, plans, and partnerships to sustain community-led change. The Blacklands 2024 Annual Updates outlines more on the actions we are supporting the community with going forward.
