The Way Forward for Families Partnership
The Way Forward for Families Partnership is focused on improving the lives and outcomes for children, young people and families in Scotland who are affected by drugs and alcohol, through providing grant funding for partnership projects between third sector and public sector organisations.
Way Forward has been designed and delivered in partnership with a Youth Advisory Group and a Steering Group. Together, these bring a wealth of skills and knowledge to the programme. It is funded by Corra Foundation and the Scottish Government, building on over 20 years of work through Partnership Drugs Initiative (PDI).
Young people with lived experience of drugs and alcohol affecting their lives are at the heart of decision making. Their expertise helps ensure the money is spent on what will make a difference to the lives of families.
Applications are to this programme are invited from partnerships – with a third sector organisation as the lead applicant and one or more partners, one of which must be a public sector body. Partnerships are able apply for funding of up to £250,000 over three years and must be match funded by a public sector partner.
The fund closed to applications on Thursday 27th November 2025. All applicants will be notified of the decisions in March 2026.

Decision making process
All applications were assessed in the following process:
Your application is reviewed and assessed by a Corra grants advisor. They may be in contact with you at this point to ask some follow up questions.
Your application is then reviewed by at least one other member of the Corra Grants team.
At this point, applications that do not meet the basic eligibility criteria will be unsuccessful and not progress further.
Applications go to an external panel of young people, who will consider applications, make notes and share reflections that form part of the recommendations to the Advisory Group.
The Advisory Group – consisting of third sector leaders and experts in the field of drugs and alcohol – meet to consider and approve final recommendations.
Decisions are notified to applicants – feedback will be available to all applicants.
When are decisions announced?
All applicants will be notified of the decisions in March 2026.
Can I get feedback if my application is unsuccessful?
We provide written feedback to all applicants and are happy to discuss this further with you once you’ve received notification of the outcome of your application.
What are the reporting requirements for successful applicants?
We will arrange a 6-to-8-monthly Support Meetings with your Grant Advisor and representatives from the partnership’s main partners. While these will form part of the monitoring arrangements for grants, they will also provide a valuable opportunity for Corra to identify any support need and opportunities for engagement and shared learning within and between funded organisations.
We will ask you for no more than two reports each year. These reports will be relatively short (no more than a few questions) and ask you about your progress made to date and, importantly, reflections on the changes made to practice or policy as a result of the partnership working.
We will aim to bring partnerships together for shared learning events over the life of the fund. We may ask that organisations prepare information or materials to share in advance of these events.
