Corra Foundation Announces Four Racial Equity Grants in Scotland.

Corra is pleased to announce new grants to tackle racism, including antisemitism, in Scotland. This funding includes grants to four organisations whose work responds to the priorities of children, young people and schools; and mental health and resilience for those experiencing and responding to racism. These are issue areas identified through consultation and learning in 2022-23.

Corra will work alongside the grant holders to support this work on systemic change and addressing the root causes of racial inequality in Scotland. We recognise that achieving this will require resource-intensive and long-term efforts. These grants are a small step towards this, and we remain committed to working alongside other funders to increase resources available for sustained anti-racist and racial justice work in Scotland.

The four grant holders are:

Coalition for Racial Equality and Rights receive a £10,000 grant and will be continuing their work tackling online hate and research and policy action to address on racism in the night-time economy.

Edinburgh Interfaith Association receive a £10,000 grant and will be continuing their Inter-faith Roadshows in primary schools across Edinburgh.

Scottish Council of Jewish Communities receive a £10,000 grant and will be rolling out educational resources on Judaism and wider support for young Jewish people in schools across Scotland.

Urban Community Project receive a £10,000 grant and will be continuing to support young people and families in the area with mental health issues alongside planning a new podcast to raise awareness of racism and its impacts.

Carolyn Sawers, Corra Foundation CEO, said:

“Racial equity and anti-racism are themes fundamental to Corra’s ten-year strategy. With the announcement of these grants, Corra reaffirms our commitment to supporting Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities in Scotland. Whilst small, these grants offer unrestricted funding to organisations across Scotland.”
