“We have received a letter from Jamie Langan MSP requesting information about grants from Corra Foundation to Project Esperanza and will reply to him in our normal timelines.
The grants to Project Esperanza were to support children and young people with care experience, to support women and girls facing challenges, and to support families and individuals in need. These grants were made using our published criteria.
Project Esperanza is a Scottish charity that helps migrant communities overcome systemic discrimination and social challenges. Guidance from the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator confirms that political campaigning – for example taking a position for or against a change in policy or legislation – is a legitimate way for some charities to achieve what they were set up for, their charitable purposes.
As a Scottish funder and charity Corra follows good practice on governance and transparency. Information on funding criteria, decision making processes and grants made are all published on our website and via our detailed annual report and accounts.”
