We realise the current situation is having an enormous impact on charities throughout Scotland. Many organisations are doing work that is even more vital than ever as we all try to support people and communities and keep everyone safe and well.
The Scottish Government has announced a range of support (details here https://news.gov.scot/news/helping-communities-affected-by-covid-19) and the process for distributing this is being worked up rapidly. As part of this, the Third Sector Reliance Fund is now open and details are available here https://scvo.org/support/coronavirus/funding/for-organisations/third-sector-resilience-fund . The list of organisations awarded TSRF grants by Firstport and Corra Foundation up to 15 April 2020 can be found here: https://www.firstport.org.uk/news/awards-made-by-the-third-sector-resilience-fund/
Funders in Scotland are all talking and working together to try and work out how best they can help. In the first instance, most funders are offering flexibility to those they already fund so that money can be used in whatever way is most helpful right now. You can see Corra’s statement here (https://www.corra.scot/news/corra-foundation-reassurance-on-the-impact-of-coronavirus-on-charities-and-groups/) and many other funders have given the same reassurances.
If you have any concerns about how your organisation, or the work it delivers will be affected it is worth speaking to your current funders as a first step. It is highly likely that they will give you any flexibility you need.
A UK-wide disaster relief fund has also been created to raise money for voluntary groups providing care and support older and vulnerable people hit by the social and economic impact of the coronavirus. In Scotland this will be delivered by Foundation Scotland (https://www.foundationscotland.org.uk/) and they are working hard to set up processes to enable funds to be accessed by charities.
Scottish Government’s Wellbeing Fund is now open, organisations can send a note of interest through the SCVO Coronavirus Hub
We will continue to update Corra’s website as new information is available on how to access the funding that is being put in place. In the meantime we also have open grant programmes which can be found here https://www.corra.scot/grants/
You can also keep up to date through SCVO’s Coronavirus information hub for the third sector. Please visit for a range of information, including updates on funding available: https://scvo.org.uk/support/coronavirus
