Buckhaven Annual Update 2024

By Corra Foundation
We have been sharing the latest news and achievements from each community we work alongside via our People in Place programme, publishing the Place Annual Updates for 2024. So far we have heard from Blacklands, Cumnock, Langlees, Castlehill, Carbrain and Dunterlie.
Our next stop is Buckhaven, a town on the East coast of Fife between East Weymss and Methil. The town’s brilliant community leaders have continued to work hard this year, hosting regular groups and creating chances to meet, learn, connect and enjoy cultural activities.
Community Cinema – Ran by local leaders including, Tracy, Emma, Kereen and Amanda, the community cinema has been a massive hit, with regular screenings getting the community together and films selected by public vote so all can get involved. A big achievement this year successfully sourcing funding to purchase a projector and necessary cinema equipment, meaning this can be a sustainable community activity for years to come.
Cosy Café and Larder – Up to 50 local people have been visiting each week, receiving meals, food bags and enjoying company in a warm space. Securing funding has helped continue this project but demand remains high and volunteers have had to work together to tackle challenges, seeking out training and making connections with the wider food provision in the community.
